Criminal Records Texas Free Database Online

By Ben Kingsley

Public records such as birth, death, marriage and criminal reports are accessible from the government. These records are important as they contain information that would establish a person's identity or eligibility. Criminal records also establish whether the person has arrest records or criminal cases against them. Private companies will find these records crucial especially if they are looking for potential employees. These records, an example of which is that of the State of Texas criminal records, are available to the public. All requests should be made in writing such as email, mail or fax as the office will not entertain those made through phone-in calls. To request for information send the letter either through the "Public Information Request Page" or by e-mailing it to this e-mail address: OGC.Webmaster@dps.texas.gov.

For those who want to check criminal records, they can go to the official website of the Texas Department of Public Safety. The site offers different services such as the Sex Offender Registry, Criminal History Conviction, Recovery and Identification program, Anti-Auto Theft program and Registration of Metal Recycling companies.

The Texas Public Sex Offender registry includes free search of sex offenders. The public is also allowed to download the registry. Criminal History Conviction search on the other hand is an online search query for the public for criminal records. Records are limited and depend on the particular records made available to the public. The T.R.I.P program is for commercial and farm owners to use to enter their property and equipment details to help the local enforcement agency track stolen equipment. The H.E.A.T program on the other hand deals with stolen vehicles.

For those people seeking criminal reports, they can access the Texas Conviction Database. This Database is part of the State's computerized criminal history system. The database contains criminal records from the State's counties that already have convictions and those arrests that were made in violation of the Class B misdemeanour as stated in the law. Some records are not available for public viewing and are only accessible by law enforcement agencies and other authorized agents.

For those individuals who are looking to do criminal background checks or want to obtain a criminal record report, follow the guidelines implemented in the CR-63. The Office also offers a PDF form to help people requesting information get the procedure on how to review personal criminal history. As criminal records are included in the Public Information Act, requests not in accordance with the Act will not be entertained. Criminal records available from the Office are those records that have received convictions as well as been granted for adjudication. These records are also available in the internet. Information can also be requested by emailing the Office, faxing the request or sending it through mail. Each request is $10 and the office will only accept checks or money orders.

For those individuals or companies who are looking for basic information pertaining to other criminal records, they can check out free criminal records online. There are different websites offering free search of basic criminal records.
